Topic: Power & Influence of Coach’s in Sports

Many people believe the most important factor while playing a sport is the team but in reality, the most important and influential factor while being in a team is having a coach to lead the way. Playing a sport is the same as having a job. There is commitment, others to work with, and someone who will teach you what route to take when not knowing where to begin. While having an over the phone interview with my high school softball coach, she taught me why having so much power over a team was needed when playing a sport.  Coaching helps to clarify the needs and goals of a team in order for them to not only win in their specific area, but to also learn from the outcome of their situation. Having a coach allows team members to remain ready for any given situation while enhancing various leadership skills. The influence a coach can have on you while being in a team can leave an everlasting impact on you for a lifetime. A coach will provide the team members with structure and tools to help an individual understand who they are in today’s society. Being a coach over a group of individuals can also lead to mentoring them, which is used for professional development. The main purpose of a coach while being in sports is to create the correct ways to learn from situations while motivating the athletes. Being able to interview my high school coach taught me not only the importance of her leadership position, but why her postion as a leader has had such an amazing impact on my life as a student.
